I was up at Five o’clock in the morning making coffee and checking the weather. After three days of cloudy skies or fog, the prediction that morning was for clear skies over Lake Michigan.
By 5:30 I was loading the car and preparing to drive to the lake once more.
This morning there were fewer than normal joggers on the path when I arrived. Most likely because the temperature was twenty degrees cooler than the day before. The sun was still below the horizon when I picked up the camera and my coffee and hiked out to the water’s edge.
I chose a location where the steel pilings are protected by large rocks at the edge of the marina that point to the nautical marker on the point. They create a natural arrow whose other side is the trees on the peninsula.
Sunrise was still ten minutes away when I began clicking the shutter and after it rose, I waited to see if a God Ray would appear. Alas that was not to be, but among all those photos was this one where the sun was just a...
